Donald Trump should be impeached for violating his oath of office

Everyone who is not a racist, a grifter, or a nihilist knows that Donald Trump is manifestly unfit to be President. The list of things he should be impeached for is long but today’s news that Trump told the head of the Customs and Border Patrol to close the border and he would pardon him if he got into legal trouble (wtf?) strikes me as his most impeachment worthy action to date. The Presidential oath of office is as follows:

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

The job of the President is to execute the law. What Trump did today was to explicitly undermine the law by encouraging lawbreaking and then offering a pardon to the lawbreaker. What clearer violation of his oath could one ask for. Of course he won’t be impeached over this because the Republican Party is fully behind his lawless actions but this should be remembered for its extreme lawlessness.
